Our Story

Born from love, knit with wit.

The Early Years

Born in Flushing, Queens to teenage parents, Jenny grew up on chaos, charisma, a Fisher-Price record player, and a rainbow-colored keyboard.

While her mom hit Studio 54, she waited by the window, spinning Grease on repeat and plotting her own soundtrack. She was obsessed with The Muppets, ran for class treasurer with the slogan "Pick up your pen and vote for Jen," and was told on day one of school she "talks too much"— a note that foreshadowed her passion for expression and writing and a career in communications. She spent a great deal of time with her quite unconventional grandma who sparkled like a diamond and had a carefree, razor-like wit who made everything FUN.

Rock & Roll Life

After college in Boulder, Colorado (and a life-changing Hole concert that led to a radio station internship the very next day), Jenny landed in L.A. as a 23-year-old music jr. publicist with a big girl office at a major PR firm.

She then worked for music production studios and artist managers and climbed through every department at Warner Records desperate to work there, eventually landing a dream role as Art Department Coordinator. She lived the entire rock & roll life from start to finish while helping facilitate album design and packaging — a childhood dream that became fully realized.

Passion, sheer determination and a litttttle bit of magic had brought her there. Destiny was calling and this life felt meant to be.

Completely inspired in the environment and the artists around her daily, Jenny was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and launched Art Duet, a blend of management and PR for celebrities who were dual in nature: known in one arena, but multifaceted and talented in visual art. A blend of PR & Management, she immersed herself headfirst into all things art and would go on to execute and publicize hundreds of art shows, book signings and events for notable fine artists & photographers.

The Now.

Things shifted drastically when Jenny's Mom became suddenly and terminally ill with Glioblastoma prompting an abrupt move to the East Coast to be with her. When Darlene passed in December 2024, Jenny's world became unrecognizable while facing all new challenges while in a new environment.

In search of comfort and healing, the idea for my JENNYBEAR arrived quite unexpectedly - like a bird with a message - while watching the movie 'Walk The Line'. What began as an intentional practice of recalling funny memories of her mother and grandmother as a coping mechanism — often while wrapped in a favorite sweater — became a small idea and later a natural catalyst to start the brand. As Jenny embroidered phrases on test sweaters to wear, people often stopped to ask about them. This sense of connection led to a renewed sense of purpose and an awareness that this - now illuminated - path had found her.

The phrases are quite methodically thought through and are a mix of things that Mom & Grandma said, with their endearing Queens' accents and attitudes.

Our line of specialty crafted cashmere & wool-blended knits are carefully selected and locally embroidered in loving memory with a slight irreverent wit carried with warm intention. Each limited-edition piece is intended to be a small love letter to all that heals. Our cozy, well-made essentials are for those who find comfort in nostalgia, laughter & a hint of sass.

With great pride we have aligned with The National Brain Tumor Society. As a special collaborative piece, 30% of proceeds of our custom 'Tough Cookie' piece are donated, while 10% of all sales on the site are as well.

♡ heart

Locally connected.

We embroider locally with our (now) friends nearby who are the best in the business. Keeping it close to home means we can stand behind every stitch, while supporting other local businesses and building a sense of community around the project.

✦ thought

Limited on purpose.

When a current limited run is gone, it's gone. That's not scarcity marketing — it's just reality. We'd rather make less to have it mean something, also knowing we have an infinite stream of future ideas! However, some are NSFS (hilariously not safe for sweaters) but we work around it!
